India-EU-deal

Beyond the Headlines: Why the India-EU Deal is a potential Game-Changer for Indian IT?

Have been in the Indian IT services industry for over two decades, serving 14 countries globally. For most of this time, our biggest challenge has not been technology. It has been visas.

Every year, we’d go through the same painful ritual. The endless paperwork, the constant uncertainty. It’s like trying to build a high-quality global business, not just a cost arbitrage, but with one hand tied behind our back.

Today, it changed, with implementation to follow. The headlines are all about the ‘mother of all deals’ and the upto 99% tariff cuts. And yes, that’s huge. But for those of us in the trenches of the Indian IT industry, the real story is buried in the fine print.

It’s the Mobility Framework.

This isn’t just another vague promise of ‘easier travel’. This is a legally binding framework that gives Indian IT professionals unprecedented access to the EU market. We’re talking:

  •  Intra-Corporate Transfers: The ability to seamlessly move our own people to our EU offices.

  • Contractual Service Suppliers: The right to send our teams to work on client sites across 37 different sectors.

  • Independent Professionals: The freedom for our top consultants to work directly with EU clients.

  • Family Rights: The ability for our people to bring their families with them, a crucial factor in long-term assignments.

Hopefully, this is the simplification of the visa nightmare and the beginning of a new era of true partnership between India and the EU. Timing is important; Europe also needs to be more active and look beyond just the US and start being inclusive for countries that have a long history of peace and great technical people.

For a company like Mind IT Systems, we already have many European clients. We’ve always had the talent, the expertise, and the ambition, but have been held back by Visas. Now, IT companies like us may have easier access.

This deal isn’t just about trade. It’s about trust. It’s about the EU recognising India as a strategic partner, a hub of innovation, and a source of world-class talent.

India can not be a back office for the world. Indian companies are already a front office, a partner, and a driving force in the global digital economy. Structures and deals like these just help at the practical levels.

What’s your take on this deal? How do you see it changing the game for the India-EU tech corridor?
